Production
Svensk Filmindustri (SF) is the leading film producer in the Nordic region and has produced over 550 feature film since the start in 1919.
SF has its own production activities in each local territory; Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. In Sweden through an in-house production department and the newly acquired production company Sonet Film, in Norway through in-house activities, in Denmark through the production entity SF Film Production and in Finland through the production company Juoni Filmi.
SF has a long history of producing films in Sweden; from the golden era of the silent movies with films made by Victor Sjöström and Mauritz Stiller, over the Ingmar Bergman years, the films based on the Astrid Lindgren books, the Bo Widerberg, Lasse Hallström and Colin Nutley films to the present 20-25 films we now produce each year.
Since a few years back we can also include new and exciting stories from Norway, Denmark and Finland in our line-up.
Local films have always been very strong in the Scandinavian countries and it is SF’s ambition to be the leading producer in these territories. It is also an ambition to continue the very long line of successful co-productions with external partners as well as distribute films from other producers.
